    Dear Mrs. Zrihen,

I have been reading the book name Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul II by Jack Canfield. The reason I picked this book because it was really a book for teens. I'm not really a teen I am really a pre-teen but I can still understand what the book says. Now this book is about how being a teenager is like. It has diffrent sections of the book and each section is a teenager's life and actually the stories try to tell a lesson of how they failed and how you can succeed and solve that problem.

The three strategies I used before reading the book was that I skimmed and scanned for text features and some I found was bold prints, headings, illustrations, italics, and captions. I also ask myself questions about the book like what do I know about the book and are there pictures, titles or maps. I also predicted what might have happened in the story by looking at the cover and the title. The three strategies I've done during reading was skip when I see an unfamiliar word, keep reading, and go back to that unfamiliar word and figure what that word mean. I also stop reading and thought what I read so far in the story. And I also made inferences and thought about what I read about  and try to learn from it.The last three strategies I done were after reading the story and my first was I wrote down what I read about what I learned in the story. I actually discussed with my cousin about the book and we had a good discussion and we agreed on trying to learn from this book. And I also drew conclusion and think about what predictions I made before and during reading.

The genre of this story is a memoir. Memoir is a kind of genre where it is a memory that you can learn a lesson from. The topic of this book is teenagers. The main idea of this book is that this book gives examples of problems and how can you solve them to be a good teenager. The supporting details for this story is diffrent sections of titles you can learn from. And diffrent steps of how being a good teen. The essential message of this book is.The essential message is " to be a good teenager you need a guide to help you through because it's hard for some. The text features I found were captions, italics, illustrations, headings, and subtitles.

In closing, I will like to say that this book was a really great book and taught me stuff I didn't about being a teenager. I will rate this book a ten out of ten. Again I enjoyed this book and I wish I can read more books like this.

Dear Mrs.Zrihen,

I have been reading a book named My Brother Is Dead by James Lincoln Colliver. The reason I picked this book because it had an interesting title and when I starting reading throughtout the book it looked very dramatic and a very serious looking book. The passage is about the author telling a true story about what happen and how his brother Sam died in war. Now the ending of this story wasn't really in war they really executed him in front of a tons of people while he was on a stage. But before they executed Sam, first all of his friends and familys had to do a prayer over him then the execution took place. The author was backstage right infront of it .Now the reason he getting executed because the General thought that Sam stole the cattle  because Sam's fellow mate Tim told that Sam did it but he didn't.Yet he still got the blame.

This passage was sad from beginning through end because it eminded him of the last days he saw his brother and how he was so strict and funny at times.

Now three strategies I used before reading was setting a purpose before reading or to figure out what I think is gonna happen in the story.I also predict what I might find in the article.I identify the text that are in the story like the print and the illustrations.Three strategies I used while reading are having some background knowledge from life that the article talks about and I know it feels to somebody you are close to. She might not have been in my family but I felt like she was a auntie to me. She died in 2007 and that was not a good moment for me. I tought about things that weren't actually mention like how the character's feelings are.I predicted and asked myself some questions about what I'm reading about now. And finally three last strategies I done was I checked my undestanding about just writing a summary about the book.I asked myself some questions about the book like if there was a lesson in this book and what was it about and what was the turnaround.

The genre of this book was realistic fiction. The story was talking about a true story but was explaining in a unreal story. The characters were the author, James Lincoln Colliver, Sam who was really Samuel Meeker the brother of the author, The author's parents, Natheniel Brallet,Tim and many more I can mention. The protogonist was Sam and the antagonist was Tim. The setting was in New Haven, Conneticut in the April 1970. It was at night in heavy rain.Everybody and two guest was at the dinner table ready to eat.The plot structure is in the exposition was that Sam was back home from war against the British. The rising ation was that he was going back for another war against the British. The climax was that he was blamed for stealing the General's cattle. The falling action was that Sam was getting executed for the blame. The resolution was he will be missed by his whole family and friends.

Finally, I will like to say that this book was great! And I will like to read more dramatic book like this. One through ten I will like to give this book a ten I actually wanted to read this book and couldn't stop reading it.
